Myth: Weak border enforcement has led to high undocumented immigration

Fact: The Border Patrol's budget has increased tenfold since 1986, but border crossings have continued despite the risks. This is because of the effects of U.S. trade policies south of the border and a lack of legal avenues for immigrants to enter the U.S., compared to the number of jobs available.
