Voces de la Frontera Holds Sikh Community in Our Hearts

August 7, 2012
On behalf of the membership of Voces de la Frontera, we extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, as well as the larger Sikh community,  who have been devastated by the tragic shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek on Sunday.

As an organization that represents a constituency that has also been a target of hate crimes, our hearts go out to the Sikh community.  We particularly honor their heroism during this unimaginable ordeal.
This hateful act is a reminder of the urgent need to promote deeper understanding and respect between different cultures in our diverse society.

Please note: The New Sanctuary Movement of Voces de la Frontera will be holding its monthly vigil tonight, where we usually pray for individuals being separated from their families due to deportation.  The vigil is always at Ascension Lutheran Church at 1236 S. Layton Blvd in Milwaukee.

Tonight's vigil will include a special dedication to the victims of Sunday's shooting and their families. The Latino community and supporters of the immigrant rights movement invite all who are in the Milwaukee metropolitan area to attend.
